Copetran Cali (Vac) Bus

Copetran nació en el año 1939 cuando las empresas de transporte “Flota del Once”, “Flota Comuneros” y “Transporte Unión Santander” se unieron y crearon la Cooperativa Santandereana de Tránsito LTDA. Tres años más tarde adoptaría por fin el nombre de Copetran y estaría conformada por alrededor de 22 socios. Hoy en día, Copetran está conformada por más de 40 familias y muchas de ellas ya van en la cuarta generación. Además, Copetran ha contado con ocho logos a lo largo de toda su historia, los cuales se caracterizan por tener el famoso “perro de Copetran”, un galgo de género masculino.

Santiago de Cali is one of the oldest cities in Colombia. It was founded in 1536 by the conquistador Sebastián de Belalcázar. Before the conquest, Cali was inhabited by Indian tribes such as the gorrones, timbas, and morrones. Present-day Cali is a prosperous city, which is known as the Colombian capital of the rumba and salsa due to the great number of renowned schools that teach these dances.

● Cristo Rey: This imposing 26-meter statue is located on Cerro Los Cristales in western Cali. It is the ideal place to have an incredible view of the city of Cali. In the upper part of this viewpoint, you can enjoy a chapel, restaurant, parking lot, and an attractive sculpture. The schedule to visit Cristo Rey’s viewpoint is 8:00 a.m. at 11:00 p.m.

● Museum of Modern Art La Tertulia: In this place, there is an exhibition of more than 300 works by international artists, a cinematheque, and a traveling exhibition hall. There are three workshops, one of the graphic arts, one of restoration of works, and one so that children can let their imagination fly. The Museum of Modern Art La Tertulia is very close to the Cali River.

● Hacienda El Paraiso: La Maria, the work of Jorge Isaacs, which is one of the great treasures of Latin American literature, took place in this fabulous hacienda and in its beautiful surroundings. The house was built in 1816 but was acquired by the author's father in 1846, allowing him to live his childhood years in this place. Elements of the time when the Isaacs family lived in the Hacienda El Paraíso still remain.
