Copetran San Gil (San) Bus

Copetran was founded in the year 1939 when the bus operators "Flota del Once", "Flota Comuneros" and "Transporte Unión Santander" joined and created the "Cooperativa Santandereana de Tránsito LTDA". Three years later it finally adopted the name of Copetran and it was confirmed by around 22 partners. Today, Copetran is conformed by more than 40 families and many of them are already in their 4th generation. Also, Copetran has had 8 logos throughout its history, which are characterized by having the famous "Copetran dog", a male greyhound.

Located in Santander, San Gil is considered the touristic capital of the department thanks to its natural attractions that allow the practice of extreme sports like rafting, climbing, paragliding, among others. Thanks to the touristic growth, San Gil has also developed in the commercial, industrial, and urban sectors, which makes it a very interesting destination for national and international tourists.

● Historic Center of San Gil: The historic center of San Gil has steep streets that were constructed during the XVII century. Located by the shore of the Fonce River, it is a National Monument of Colombia.

● Parque el Gallineral: Es el lugar más emblemático de la ciudad, ubicado en el sector conocido como El Malecón Turístico, creado en 1694, abarca una pequeña isla entre el Río Fonce y la Quebrada Curiti con una extensión de 4 hectáreas conformada por árboles Gallineros, además de senderos, animales de exhibición, entre otras instalaciones.

● Pozo Azul: Just a few kilometers from the city, you can find a group of natural pools very visited by tourists and locals. Surrounding Pozo Azul you can find many restaurants and cafes, which makes it an ideal place to spend the whole day.

● San Gil to Bogota: You can travel to the capital from San Gil with Copetran, on its Preferencial de Lujo service. The bus fares vary from 50000 to 70000 pesos. The travel time is 6 hours approximately.
