Planeta Rica is known as La Ciudad Bella y Cordial. Its main economic life is generated by livestock and agricultural production, although it also has a well consolidated mining sector exporting nickel, coal and limestone. This municipality has an average temperature of 28°C, although in times of drought it can reach 40°C. With regard to its festivities, Planeta Rica organizes the Corralera during the first weeks of February. It is also known for being the headquarters of the fair of artisan exhibitions Exposanjorge.
