Villeta is a Colombian municipality located in the Department of Cundinamarca. It was founded in 1551 as an outpost to better evangelize the locals. It is also known as the Sweet City due to the cultivation of sugar and its industry of by-products, which became an important part of the economy of the region.The city, whose name means little villa, is now an important touristic destination is Colombia due to the beautiful vistas and ecotourism opportunities in the region, which includes spas, waterfalls and roads, as well as fincas to visit. It is also famous for hosting the Reinado Nacional de Panela beauty pageant and a Department-wide Music Band Festival in August.

Location: Afueras de Villeta Waterfall that creates a natural pool. It is a perfect place to relax and admire the nature. It is recommended that you bring repellent for the mosquitoes. There are restaurants nearby, and it can cost you between 2000 and 4000 COP to reach the place from Villeta.
Salto de los Micos
Location: Cune Ravine Group of cascades sought by tourists and locals, which come to bathe in the natural pool made out of the waterfall.
Typical dishes in Villeta
Round mass of corn filled with cheese and then fried. Very popular around christmas.
It's a dish made with plentiful ingredients, among them beef, pork, heart, pieces of blood sausage, chorizo, longaniza, creole potatoes and ripe plantain. All the meat is fried until it's gold-colored, and after that they serve it with fried potatoes and baked bananas.
Sancocho de gallina
It's a popular soup in the different regions of the country, made of chicken, potatoes, manioc, bananas, and several spices, all of it served with rice.

Beauty Pageant held at the end of January. A Queen is chosen and she in turn represents and promotes cultural activities linked to the Panela. The municipality hosts other cultural, gastronomic and handicrafts to generate more awareness and to emphasize the work of the countrymen and the use of the sugar cane.
