Chigorodó is a colombian municipality located in the Urabá subregion, in the department of Antioquía. It is known as the cultural axis of Urabá. It is south of the Carepa municipality, and west of the Córdoba Department. Its name means “Guaduas River” in a local language.The city was founded in 1878 by José de los Santos Zúñiga, María Paredes, Celestino Díaz and Manuel Correa, and it was declared a municipality in 1915.Nowadays Chigoroó is mostly a rural town with an economy based in exportation of bananas, and farming, which also attracts visitors to its usual fairs.
