About Bucaramanga
Bucaramanga is situated at 959 m a.s.l. in an area that used to be populated by the indigenous guanes, being in close proximity with other tribes such as the chibchas, chitarreros, laches and muiscas. About Duitama
Duitama is a colombian municipality, capital of the province of Tundama, located in the department of Bocaya. It is located in the center-east of the country, in the region of Alto Chicamocha. It is the most populous municipality of the department. On the north it borders with the department of Santander (municipalities of Charala and Encino), on the south with the municipalities of Tibasosa and Paipa, on the east with the municipalities of Santa Rosa de Viterbo and Belen, and on the west with the municipality of Paipa. In 1539, Duitama was founded as encomienda, having Baltazar Maldonado as encomendero. Then, Duitama became corregimiento (with Baltazar’s death). In 1819, Duitama was declared municipality. Duitama is a famous municipality for its handicraft workshops and fruit orchards (of apple, pear, peach, curuba and plum).
